Landscape designing is the process of planning and documenting the elements and features of a landscape. It may be something simple such as a sketch with some notes defining what is to be done. Why do you need a formal plan? Would you build a house or a garage without a plan? You would not build something without a plan if you want it done correctly. Even professional builders, craftsman and contractors use plans to insure that their projects are done correctly. They know that unless there is a documented plan, they will waste money on materials and labor and there will be mistakes made because there is no drawing to guide the workers. Doing it wrong is expensive.  

Do It Yourself?
If you would like to do your own landscape plan there are resources available to help you with the job. You can simply start with a piece of paper and do a sketch of what you would like. The best way to do this is to use a piece of graph paper and create a scale (example – each square equals 1 foot) so your drawing will be accurate. You can also purchase landscape software that is readily available and inexpensive. This is especially handy if you are not much at drawing. Use a landscape professional to create your one of a kind landscape design. If you would rather not spend your time drawing or learning to use computer software to develop your own plan, then contact a professional to help you.
